Most seniors expect to continue working or to rejoin the workforce, according to the Forum for Investor Advice. History of Colonel’s Way Award
"The Colonel’s Way Award recognizes people who live life to its fullest, " said Chuck Rawley, KFC president and chief operating officer. The 1999 Colonel’s Way Award, is named for Colonel Harland Sanders – founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken and one of the world’s most famous seniors. Colonel Sanders was 62 when he signed on his first Kentucky Fried Chicken franchisee. Four years later, in 1956, he went on the road to solicit franchisees with little more than his $105 Social Security check and an incredible recipe for fried chicken.

Randall, age 79, is keeping busy with the National Actors Theater’s production of The Sunshine Boys this summer. According to Randall, some of his proudest accomplishments have occurred in his golden years. He began his own theater company at the age of 72. At 77, he fathered his first child, Julia Laurette, and just one year later, his second - - Jefferson Salvini.

Fifty-one state winners won $50 in KFC gift certificates. In addition, they received a year’s supply of Centrum Silver vitamins, a year’s subscription to Prevention magazine and a Colonel’s Way Award certificate.
